David Holmes

After a spell at Gorringe's over 25 years ago, we are delighted to have him return to conduct our highly popular weekly Monday auctions. David is widely regarded as one of the best auctioneers in the country, with a concise, speedy style but still with time to  enjoy a humorous rapport with his audience. He is a regular contributor to a number of antiques TV programmes- a testament to his popularity.

James started his career as a teacher, with a lifelong love of railways, toys and antique furniture. This led him into the auction world, where he has continued to develop his knowledge of antiques and an interest in specialist themed auctions.

Kasia heads the photography department and operates the social media content at Gorringes.

Samuel Hug

Samuel’s love for jewels started at an early age, kindled through a Saturday job at his family’s jewellery shop, before doing his FGA and DGA qualifications at the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and Ireland. After university in London, where he specialised in Japanese language, Sam furthered his training in the jewellery department at Sotheby’s, cataloguing historic jewels from the collections of Vivien Leigh, Countess Mountbatten of Burma, and Marie Antoinette to name a few, as well as consigning important Cartier jewels from the collections of Annie Pearson, 1^st Viscountess Cowdray, and a pair of superb Kashmir sapphires from the collection of the Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava. Sam worked at another auctioneers in the south of England before moving to Gorringe’s as Head of Jewellery. He has a particular interest in antique jewels, from medieval posy rings and Georgian rivières through to Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and, needless to say for any jewellery afficionado, loves anything Cartier.

John Holmes

A significant figure in the auction world, John Holmes joined Gorringe’s in March 2025. With over 20 years’ experience, he is the principal contact for clients seeking expertise in paintings, prints, sculpture, and design, bringing his extensive knowledge and leadership to one of the country’s most established auction houses.

Tom Blest

Tom joined Gorringe's in April 2024 as Head of valuations - Kent, based in the Tunbridge Wells office. An experienced generalist valuer with over a decade of experience, Tom has a broad spectrum of interests focusing mainly on the decorative arts but also including silver and jewellery, visiting clients across Kent and the South East carrying out valuations for sale, probate and insurance purposes.
