Winter Fine SaleDecember 12 2023 | 10.00am
More Sale Information
This Winter sale includes a number of consignments from the Channel Islands. Philip has made a number of visits to clients based in Jersey and Guernsey and returned with a wide selection of lots.
The sale starts with a remarkable private collection of mid to late century Murano glassware including many works by Vittorio Ferro (1902-2012). Further on are several bronzes and ormolu works followed by a number of notable pieces of Louis furniture including an important pair of 18th century Venetian chairs and a side cabinet in the manner of Adam Weisweiler.
Elsewhere you will see a group of Japanese hardwood netsuke, much more desirable now that ivory has been outlawed. Some significant 18th century portraits are followed by a selection of silver and a group of works by one of Australia’s foremost artists Sir Sidney Nolan.
All of these attract import duty so do take that into account when calculating your bids.
Everything else in the sale is sourced from home territory and as ever covers a wide range of collecting fields. Highlights include a fine Lalique car mascot, a good John Pearson copper planter, a complicated skeleton clock, a huge oil painting of lions at the watering hole and two works by David Shepherd.
Last but by no means least do view the silver which includes a private collection of novelty silver collected from many of the Sussex salerooms by the late Caroline Rawlings-Lloyd and some fine jewels to make someone’s Christmas very happy…
