Gorringe’s is pleased to announce the further strengthening of our valuations team with two significant new appointments: James Bruce joins as Head of Valuations, London, and Lisse Garnett as Fine Wine & Spirits Specialist.

These roles represent a strategic expansion for Gorringe’s, building on recent growth within our Paintings, Jewellery, Books & Manuscripts departments, as well as our presence across the Kent region.

James Bruce

James Bruce, Head of Valuations, London

James Bruce joins Gorringe’s as Head of Valuations, London. He brings over ten years’ experience in the industry, most recently having worked as a Senior Specialist and Auctioneer in the Interiors department of West London’s Chiswick Auctions.

He previously spent eight years as a General Valuer & Auctioneer with McTear’s Auctioneers, Glasgow. During that time, he completed his Masters in Collecting & Provenance Studies at the University of Glasgow.

As a general valuer, he has a breadth of experience, though he has cultivated interests in British & European ceramics, glass and furniture, militaria, and memorabilia. This has seen him involved in the sale of key collections, including that of William Mowat-Thomson, the matchworn shirts of Bertie Auld, and an important private collection of British campaign medals.

At Gorringe’s, James will be carrying out valuations throughout the area between London and Lewes, as well as curating our Fine Art & Interiors auctions (three per year).

"James’ appointment signifies our intent to reach beyond our home regions of Sussex and Kent and to better serve new and existing clients in the London area."

John Holmes, Managing Director

Lisse Garnett

Lisse Garnett

Lisse Garnett joins Gorringe’s as a Fine Wine & Spirits specialist. As a respected wine writer, judge and host, Lisse brings her broad experience in fine wine & spirits to Gorringe’s. Lisse discovered an affinity for wine whilst working in hospitality, funding a degree and two masters.

After a career as a broadcast journalist, she joined Plumpton College to complete her WSET Diploma in Wine. As a specialist importer, she gained understanding of the international wine market before joining Richard Harvey MW at Bonhams to run the Cape Wine Guild Auction in London exile.

Lisse has a keen understanding of the New World as well as a particular interest in English wine. She believes many of the world’s most iconic and exciting bottles hail from within fifty miles of our auction house door.
