Christopher Whittick
Gorringe’s are extremely fortunate to have the consultancy services of Christopher Whittick - a Lewes resident, Chris read law at Worcester College, Oxford, and qualified as an archivist in 1975. He has lived in Lewes since 1977, and ended his career as County Archivist of East Sussex. He has taught palaeography and administrative history, and is particularly interested in medieval legal history and the application of documentary evidence to the history of standing buildings. Amongst his many and diverse abilities, Chris reads Medieval Latin!!

With 56 years in the Auction world, Philip was part of the original Antiques Roadshow team in 1978, a past vice Chairman of The Brighton Royal Pavilion and Museums Foundation and a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars
Philip has a broad knowledge across the majority of departments, with a particular interest in Clocks, Scientific instruments, Antiquarian and first edition books.
