Gorringe’s is a leading auction house based in Lewes, East Sussex, with a long-standing reputation for expertise, integrity and service. Established in 1929, we specialise in fine art, antiques, jewellery, silver, Asian art, furniture and design. We conduct regular auctions and valuations from our historic Lewes saleroom and our Tunbridge Wells office, reaching clients locally, nationally and internationally.
The Role
We are seeking a confident, proactive Marketing Manager to take on a central role in the day-to-day delivery of Gorringe’s marketing activity. Working closely with the Executive Director, who leads the business's strategic marketing direction, you will be responsible for implementing and managing marketing activity across all channels, including advertising, content, email, business development and digital.
This is a broad, hands-on role ideal for a capable marketing generalist who is organised, collaborative and confident juggling multiple priorities. You will work closely with specialists, saleroom and support staff, and external suppliers to deliver best-in-class communications, campaigns and creative.
Key Responsibilities
• Marketing management: Oversee day-to-day marketing activities across all departments, ensuring campaigns run smoothly and to schedule
• Advertising: Plan, book and manage print and digital advertising placements, working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver compelling creatives
• Content: Write and edit engaging, on-brand copy for email, web, press, social and other marketing collateral; liaise with photographers, designers and external copywriters as needed
• Email marketing: Plan and deliver our email newsletters and sale highlight campaigns, with a focus on accuracy, impact and clear CTAs
• Business development: Support outreach and lead generation activity through campaign development and data management
• Partnerships and PR: Working with the Head of PR, identify and support promotional opportunities, press placements and relationships with aligned organisations and media
• Paid media: Manage and optimise paid social and Google Ads campaigns with internal stakeholders and external agency support
• Projects: Coordinate one-off strategic projects as needed, such as the company rebrand and website redevelopment (anticipated in next 12 months)
• Website: Maintain and update the website with support from our web agency; ensure content is current, accurate and user-friendly
• Agency liaison: Act as the main point of contact for external suppliers including web, print and design, managing timelines and briefs
• Strategy support: Contribute to marketing strategy development with the Executive Director, including planning and performance reviews
What We're Looking For
• 3–5 years of marketing experience, ideally within arts, culture, heritage or luxury
• Strong copywriting and content production skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Experience in campaign delivery across multiple channels, including print and digital
• Confident managing creative and web agencies, briefing in design and print
• Experience using email platforms (Mailchimp preferred), CMS tools, social media and Adobe Suite (InDesign)
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and work with multiple stakeholders
• A collaborative, flexible attitude and strong organisational skills

The Role
We are looking for a polished, professional and highly organised Front of House Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our reception area and lead our small front-of-house team. This is a customer-facing role at the heart of our business, requiring a confident, friendly presence and an ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position, based in our Lewes sale room five days a week. The role will report to the Head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the smooth running and professional presentation of the front of house/reception area
• Act as the first point of contact for clients and visitors to the saleroom, delivering a warm, courteous and helpful welcome
• Supervise and support other front of house staff, ensuring consistent service and cover
• Handle all incoming calls and customer emails, responding efficiently or directing to the appropriate specialist
• Assist with client services including helping with collection of purchased goods and managing items brought in for valuation
• Provide administrative support to other departments, including entering receipts into our internal system
• Maintain high standards of organisation and cleanliness in client-facing areas
• Work closely with our valuation and cataloguing teams to support daily operations
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience (over 3 – 5 years) in a customer-facing role is essential
• Background in luxury retail, hospitality, or client services is highly desirable
• Warm, confident, and professional manner, both in person and over the phone
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A flexible, proactive, and collaborative approach to work
• Comfortable working with computers and databases (training provided)
• An interest in art, antiques, or auctions is a plus, but not essential
