Buying Antiques at Auction FAQs

The following are questions asked frequently about buying antiques at auction results:

How do I bid online?

Gorringe’s recognises the convenience of online bidding. We use The Saleroom and Invaluable (for our quarterly fine sales), for live real time bidding. This means you are able to watch the auction live from the comfort of your home or office and bid on lots in real time.

To bid online with the Saleroom you first need to:

  1. Create an account here

  2. Log in to view and bid live here.

How to I leave a pre sale commission bid?

To leave a pre sale bid you need to:

  1. First create a Gorringe’s account (please note this is different to the account you need to Bid Live). If you don’t have a Gorringe’s account you can register here.

  2. Once logged in access the sale witht the item you would like to leave a bid. (Go to Auctions > Auction Dates)

  3. Click 'Bid & Track' next to the item you would like to leave a pre sale bid for

How do I know if I have won the lot(s) I have bid on?

If you are successful we will email you an invoice at the end of the sale.

I have already registered to Gorringe’s but don’t seem able to bid online or leave a commission bid

There are two separate Gorringe's registrations.

One is for your ‘My Gorringes’ account, which allows you to leave pre-sale/ commision bids, request condition reports and update your details.

The other is registration for online bidding through the Saleroom, allowing you to watch and bid live online.

You can register for online bidding or login here.

How do I make sure I don’t miss a lot I’m interested in?

Simply sign up for our lot alerts service and keep a regular eye on your emails. You’ll be sent a notification each time a lot in the category you are interested in is going to auction.

How do I request a condition report?

Send an email to clientservices@gorringes.co.uk with any requests for additional information, condition and extra photographs.
