Starting in June 2016, we will offer part one of a series of six sales of Victorian, Edwardian and later postcards, all of Eastbourne and outlying villages.

That may not be unusual, except for the fact that there are over 14,000 of them!

The collection was formed by an Eastbourne resident, John Palmer, following his retirement from his role working abroad for the United Nations.

John, a former pupil at Eastbourne Grammar school, was passionate about Eastbourne history and heritage and what better way to learn about its past than through the acquisition of these fascinating images, many recorded well over 100 years ago.

Views include the Pier, Beachy Head, Belle Toute, lighthouse, Holywell, Street scenes, schools, churches, Summerdown convalescent camp, and the villages of Wannock, Langney, Alfriston, Litlington, Jevington, East Dean, Herstmonceau, Polegate, Pevensey etc.

The first sale will include 5 lots of 4 albums containing 320 cards, each lot with estimates around £150-250
