Books & Manuscripts

Over the past five years Gorringes specialist book auctions have gone from strength to strength.

These Spring and Autumn sales boast a diverse selection of books ranging in both subject and date, from early Latin texts to traditional bindings, botanical, entemological, sporting subjects and first editions.

Our specialist has successfully auctioned the private libraries of Yehudi Menuhin and Alan Clodd, as well as several collections of Wisdens Almanacs - the latter recently produced two of the highest paid prices ever seen for Wisdens at auction, with 1896 & 1897 hardbacks realising £17,000 each.

Gorringes can also advise clients on authenticate manuscripts and letters which are sold within the book auctions. In recent yearsthese have included letters from King George IV, Charles Dickens, Daphnie Du Maurier, Florence Nightingale and Sir Winston Churchill.
